The Authors
Charlie
Johnson, MSW has
practiced health oriented psychotherapy for the last twenty-seven
years. He presents professional seminars and workshops
in the areas of Ericksonian hypnosis and Solution focused
brief therapy in the U.S. , Europe, and Australia. He is
cofounder of the Milton Erickson Institute in Colorado,
as well as Solution Mind, an organization of therapists
researching and applying brief therapy techniques to a variety
of clinical problems.
In addition to Recrafting a Life, Charlie has published journal articles and book chapters on Solution focused therapy and Ericksonian applications.
In addition to seeing clients, teaching, and writing, Johnson is the president of Creativity Engineering and consults to organizations and corporations on inventive uses of humor for enhancing creativity, generating solutions and improving productivity.
Denny
Webster, RN, CS, Ph.D. has been active in nursing
and women's 
health
for thirty years. A nurse, educator, therapist and researcher,
she has published more than fifty articles and chapters on
topics ranging from the image of women as nurses, and models
of feminist therapy to Solution focused therapy approaches
and self-care for chronic illness and pain.
In 1987, Denny developed a graduate program in psychiatric/mental health nursing at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center School of Nursing, organized around concepts of brief therapy. This pioneering approach has resulted in her Masters and Ph.D. students being in high demand upon graduation. A popular speaker, Denny has presented her research and insights at national and international conferences. For the past several years she has been conducting original research on the rare women's health problem of interstitial cystitis, a painful and debilitating bladder inflammation of unknown origin.
